Title: Corporate Controller

Compensation: $150,000 - $180,000 + Bonus

Location: Salt Lake City – 2-3 days/week on site

Position Summary

The Corporate Controller serves as a key leadership position and part of the executive leadership team for this growing Lifescience organization. This is perfect for someone coming from a larger environment ($750m/year annual revenue backgrounds) and who previously gained Big 4 or large mid tier public accounting audit/assurance experience.


You will lead and professionalize the accounting function for the organization. Responsible for directing the core accounting functions and processes, including GL, AP and AR accounting, month end close, banking and treasury, sales & use tax processing, financial controls maintenance and leveraging the ERP system and other technology. The Controller’s expertise in working within global companies and being able to oversee a team with a lot of leases, fixed assets, and revenue reporting.


Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains an environment of financial accountability, including a focus on internal controls, corporate compliance and revenue capture
  • Supports leadership in making operational changes and improving performance
  • Oversees processes the monthly close process, accounts payable, A/R invoicing, the application of cash receipts in a timely manner, and other finance and accounting functions
  • Prepares required materials and manages the annual audit
  • Strengthens and maintains a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing
  • Develops staff and relationships with leadership to obtain high value performance in a collaborative work environment
  • Facilitates the ongoing learning, well-being, professional satisfaction and development of staff through training, work assignments, increased responsibility/autonomy and mentoring
  • Leads post-merger integration of finance activities of acquired companies
  • Oversees cash flow management; monitors cash flow needs within the system and provides proactive pathways in meeting projected cash balances

 

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Big 4 or Mid Tier public accounting experience required
  • 8+ years experience with a mix of public/private
  • Strong knowledge in process flow, system enhancement, and GAAP
  • IFRS experience is strongly preferred
  • Lifescience/Medical Device/Biopharm experience strongly preferred
  • Proven financial statement preparation and analysis experience
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Creative, proactive and forward thinking with a mindset to drive continuous improvement
  • Team player – able to assist different departments as needed
  • ERP experience in NetSuite, MS Dynamics, Great Plains, SAP, Oracle
