The Corporate Controller will lead all day-to-day accounting operations and supervise a team of up to 6 direct staff members and a team of indirect including, but not limited to, functional responsibility over the general ledger, accounts payable, customer billing, accounts receivable/collections, and payroll accounting. The Controller will ensure that systems, controls, and processes are in place to facilitate timely and efficient annual audits, resulting in the issuance of unqualified opinions. The Controller will work closely with department leaders and their staffs, not only to educate them regarding accounting procedures but also to explore how the accounting function can further support operations.
In addition, s/he will partner with the CFO, senior leadership, and the human resources (HR), Legal and information technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate finance, HR, Legal and IT functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all financial accounting to include month end close, billing, accounts payable, employee expense reports, payroll accounting, and preparation of monthly financial statements ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of systems, processes, and data.
- Coordinate all financial audit activity.
- In coordination with the CFO & VP of FP&A, execute the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including internal and external monthly financial statements. Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of Company’s financial status;
- Support the CFO in engaging the Board around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
- Support organizational cash flow forecasting.
- Partner with tax accounting firm to assure proper corporate tax compliance, accurate and timely accounting for the income tax provision, and to help minimize the company’s income tax liability. Responsible for all state & local tax reporting, providing oversight to the accounting team and coordinating with Avalara and other tax consultants.
- Respond to the CFO with accurate and timely work as assigned to help facilitate financial needs.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects including compiling specialized reports.
- Conform to and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA is required. MBA a plus.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Financial management experience from at least 10 years’ work experience, manufacturing and/or construction services industry.
- Experience working for a Private Equity owned company a plus.
- Personal qualities of integrity, and credibility; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, the responsibility for finance.
- Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions including transaction accounting and integration of accounting and financial processes.
- Experience managing compliance with credit facilities including monitoring covenant compliance and preparation of compliance certificates.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Accounting and reporting software such as MS Dynamics, Netsuite, Oracle, SAP, Sectrum, or similar products.
- Knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, income tax, and banking.
- Skill in developing and implementing new and innovative business processes.
- Skill in time management in order to be productive and have a high sense of urgency.
- Skill in interpreting financial transactions for users who must make economic and business decisions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to mentor, develop, and lead a team of accounting professionals at varying levels of their career.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Ability to work well with others including senior management and team members.
