Corporate Controller for a large Entertainment Services Company based in the San Fernando Valley. Thanks to strong private equity backing, our Client has experienced substantial growth, primarily through acquisitions of several well-established companies in their space.

This position is newly created, oversees three managers, and reports directly to the CFO. This is a great opportunity for someone to build a corporate accounting and consolidation process from the ground up, while working with well-established subsidiary companies that have strong accounting processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Consolidate subsidiary financial segments into consolidated company statements
  • Create and manage monthly close timetable and divisional reporting package
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reporting package
  • Investigate and evaluate key divisional accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Ensure material conformity with US generally accepted accounting principles or other accounting standards where appropriate
  • Maximize consistency with regards to accounting practices and chart of accounts; assist accounting staff in determining correct and consistent accounting policies and methods
  • Evaluate adequacy of existing accounting reporting systems across divisions and coordinate effort to harmonize where necessary
  • Coordinate annual audit process with external auditors
  • Provide information necessary for external tax preparers to complete tax reporting requirements

 Requirements:

  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of accounting/reporting experience (public & private)
  • Experience with ERP, consolidations, and team management strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to media, entertainment or professional services is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of applicable laws and regulations, economic principles, financial markets, banking, financial data analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions
  • Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
  • Proven experience in financial project management
