Overview:

Our client is an industry-leading, privately held, manufacturing company. Founded more than 100 years ago and with revenues in excess of $600M, the company is a stable, growing, leader in their field. We seek a strategic, “business partner” minded CFO to join the executive leadership team and contribute to executing the Company’s strategy to become a $1 Billion organization.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the overall financial leadership and strategy of the company. This role encompasses oversight of the Accounting, Compensation, Financial Analysis, Tax, and Treasury functions. The CFO will ensure the financial health of the organization by providing strategic financial guidance, managing financial risks, and fostering a culture of financial accountability. In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, the CFO will execute their responsibilities in alignment with the company’s Value’s, Mission, and Vision.

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Financial Leadership:
    • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's Values, Mission, and Vision.
    • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team to support strategic decision-making.
  2. Treasury and ESOP Management:
    • Oversee the management of cash flow, banking relationships, and investment strategies to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
    • Manage capital structure, including debt financing, to optimize the company's financial performance.
    • Oversee the financial administration of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Communicate ESOP benefits and financial implications to employees, fostering an understanding of the plan and its impact on their ownership stake.
  3. Accounting Oversight:
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting both in compliance with accounting standards and also reporting that is intended for internal consumption.
    • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
    • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  4. Tax Management:
    • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position with an emphasis on generating cash and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
    • Oversee tax planning, reporting, and filing processes.
    • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and oversee relationships with tax authorities.
  5. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
    • Provide comprehensive financial analysis to support business decisions, performance management, and support the Sales team.
    • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecasts and identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepare and present financial reports to the board of directors, executive team, and other stakeholders.
  6. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture in alignment with the Values of Family, Service, Growth, Intrapreneurship and Innovation.
    • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide professional development opportunities.
    • Establish clear cross-functional working relationships that clearly identify accountability and authority within the financial teams and between the Finance function and the other functions of the company.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A CPA, CFA, or MBA is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in one of the following roles: 1) CFO of a company with revenues in excess of $400M or 2) Divisional CFO or Head of Finance in a company whose revenues exceed $1B. Current or prior high volume manufacturing experience, with multiple product lines, is preferred.
