Company Bio

 

Global manufacturer in the renewable energy sector specializing in sustainable fuel is seeking an established Vice President of Accounting. This critical role will oversee all financial operations for the company and its global entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of complex intercompany transactions, debt management, and manufacturing accounting within a publicly traded environment.

 

Position Summary


The VP of Accounting will report directly to the CFO and will be a key member of the finance leadership team. This role requires a deep understanding of US GAAP, has the ability to manage a SEC Reporting Director, and has worked in a SOX Compliant environment before. Experience with international operations, complex accounting issues, and M&A integration is a plus but not required. As the VP of Accounting, you will be a crucial part of the executive leadership team in a growing and expanding global organization.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Review SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.) and ensure compliance with all SEC regulations.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and oversee the annual audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and SOX 404 requirements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, and payroll.
  • Manage complex intercompany transactions and reconciliations across 22 global entities, implementing process improvements to streamline and automate these processes.
  • Manage the accounting for debt, including tracking covenants, interest calculations, and principal repayments.
  • Oversee the accounting for the manufacturing facility in California, including cost accounting, inventory management, and E&O in this average costing environment.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team to develop and monitor budgets and forecasts.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Identify and assess financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the accounting team.
  • Effectively communicate financial information to senior management, the board of directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve company objectives.

 

All Things Deemed Good

  • ERP Experience such as NetSuite, MS Dynamics 365, Acumatica, SAP, Oracle, Workday, MS Business Central, JD Edwards, Acumatica, MS Dynamics GP or Intacct
  • Ability to strategize and problem solve with keen attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years minimum experience
  • Public Company Experience
  • Strong knowledge of process flow, system enhancement, and GAAP
