HVAC Mechanical Engineer (P.E.)
My client has an opening for a Lead Professional Mechanical Engineer. This individual will assume the lead role of Mechanical Engineer for our organization and will join a team of other engineering and construction professionals servicing a diverse base of clients throughout the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. This is a full-time position based in the Los Angeles area.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Oversee the Mechanical Engineering Department and report directly to the President
• Perform all aspects of mechanical engineering design (specifically HVAC engineering and design)
as a Mechanical Engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design
Analyses, Calculations, equipment selection and layout, and system selection and layout
• Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of services
• Direct and lead the work of engineers in the department; provide training as required
• Ensure staff compliance with the Company’s quality control policies and procedures
• Provide and lead mechanical engineering services on Preconstruction Design-Build and
Design-Assist projects
• Perform and lead mechanical construction phase services including representing the firm onsite, answering RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and preparing record drawings
• Participate in team meetings and coordinate efforts with other team members
Project responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Oversee all mechanical engineering projects
• Review all engineering calculations and drawings for the entire department
• Work with staff engineers to help them with their individual designs
• Selection and layout of the building mechanical systems, including consideration of alternative systems
• Prepare accurate, complete, and code-compliant drawings and specifications for schematic, design development, and construction document submittals.
• Develop details of building system requirements
• Develop discipline specifications
• Coordinate work product with other disciplines
• Incorporate responses to QC comments into the project documents
• Assist in responding to RFI’s, client comments, etc.
• Review and respond to submittals
• Perform discipline QA/QC review on assigned projects
• Adhere to project budget and schedule
Qualifications:
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
• 8+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or Contracting
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Ability to manage and mentor other engineers
• Organized, excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail,
good attendance, and sound problem-solving skills
Compensation:
$125-$150K a year
