Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Takeoffs & Estimating:

  • Complete detailed quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
  • Input all labor, material, and equipment costs using company-approved tools.
  • Apply unit pricing logic and validate data against historical benchmarks.
  • Review all plans and documents to confirm alignment with bid assumptions.

Bid Package Development:

  • Assemble full bid packages with all required scope clarifications, inclusions/exclusions, and alternates.
  • Communicate proactively with the Estimating Manager on risks, RFI needs, and unusual scope elements.
  • Submit bid drafts for review ahead of deadlines with clear notes on any concerns.

Scope and Specifications Review:

  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings, project manuals, and Division 4 specifications.
  • Flag discrepancies or unclear instructions and request clarifications early in the bid cycle.
  • Ensure all components—flashing, embeds, lintels, control joints, etc.—are accounted for in pricing.

 

Internal Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Maintain clear estimating files and templates for each job in the company’s system.
  • Support internal project setup by documenting assumptions and scope interpretations.
  • Assist in estimate-related transitions to the Construction and Finance departments.

We’re it if this is You:

  • 5+ years in estimating or commercial construction (masonry experience a plus).
  • Strong understanding of blueprints, takeoff software, and unit-based pricing.
  • Detail-oriented with strong math, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and digital estimating platforms.
  • Ability to estimate accuracy compared to actual costs.
  • Provide timely estimate submissions.
