About the Company

Our client is a vertically integrated grower, shipper, and processor of fresh and value-added vegetables, with growing operations mainly in Central Mexico and partnered growers in California and East Canada. They have processing facilities in Mexico, Texas and Montreal, QC. and distribution throughout the U.S. and Canada. The company supplies some major retailers and foodservice customers with both conventional and organic products, specializing in broccoli, cauliflower, celery, and leafy greens.

Role Overview

This sales role will drive sales and business development efforts for its wet veg and value-added programs, driving growth, profitability, and long-term customer partnerships. This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on sales professional with a strong background in produce or perishable food categories and experience managing national retail and foodservice accounts. The successful candidate will blend field-level understanding with strategic foresight, representing this company’s brand and values across North America.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the annual commercial plan in coordination with production and financial objectives.
  • Manage national and regional customer accounts, ensuring margin and service-level targets are met.
  • Negotiate multi-week, seasonal, and annual programs with customers.

Business Development

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across retail, foodservice, and processing channels.
  • Support private-label and co-packing initiatives in partnership with operations and marketing.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events.

Market & Category Insight

  • Monitor and report on competitive pricing, demand trends, and customer activity.
  • Recommend tactical and strategic adjustments to maximize category performance.

Collaboration & Execution

  • Work closely with operations, logistics, and accounting teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment and timely collections.
  • Utilize ERP and CRM tools to improve visibility and accuracy in forecasting.
  • Mentor future members of the sales organization as the company scales.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Agriculture (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive sales leadership in produce or perishable goods.
  • Strong track record managing retail and/or foodservice accounts.
  • Experience with pricing strategy, volume forecasting, and contract negotiation.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with strong integrity and accountability.
