An established, innovative agriculture company is seeking a Grower to join their dynamic, growing operations. This role offers an environment where your impact is valued. The ideal candidate will have a passion for growing that innovates and looks to improve their growing practices. Must have professional growing experience; vegetables, or seeds, or herbs, or plants. Please, no backyard garden growers!
Key Responsibilities:
Growing Operations:
- Oversee all phases of the growing process, from planting to harvesting, focusing on optimal growth speed, yield, and shelf life of microgreens.
- Flag crops that are ready for harvesting, ensuring timely communication with the harvesting team to maintain product quality.
- Manage seed inventory, including testing new seed lots for viability and quality before planting.
- Conduct daily tasks such as planting, watering, fertilizing, and pest management, while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Update and maintain the Master Sowing Schedule with all relevant crop information, tracking growth stages, and flagging any issues.
Data Analytics & Decision-Making:
- Utilize Power BI reports and other data analytics tools to monitor crop performance, make informed decisions, and drive improvements.
- Regularly analyze growth metrics, yield, and environmental data to optimize growing processes and support strategic goals.
- Collaborate with the growing team to leverage data insights, enhancing efficiency and ensuring high quality standards.
Process Optimization & Quality Control:
- Continuously improve current growing practices to enhance efficiency and product quality.
- Develop strategies to introduce new or improved microgreen varieties, contributing to innovation in our product line.
Communication & Reporting:
- Work closely with the Directors of Operations to communicate daily activities, progress, and any issues.
- Regularly update team members and leadership with insights from collected data, contributing to decision-making and operational improvements.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a grower or agricultural role is preferred but not required; a passion for horticulture and a proactive learning attitude are essential.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a resourceful, independent approach to challenges.
- Proficiency in Excel and Power BI is required for data analysis, managing seed inventory, and tracking performance metrics.
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
