A fast-growing, start-up, controlled-environment agriculture company is searching for a Sales Director to join their team. This position is an exciting opportunity to join a high growth company! The successful applicant will be responsible for sourcing, developing, managing and maintaining a portfolio of key customer relationships (primarily with retailers). Identifying business opportunities, negotiating and closing sales contracts and maintaining an extensive knowledge of market conditions, trends and competitor activity; as the business develops they will be leading the sales and commercial team.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 6 years’ sales experience to key retailer clients - preferably Whole foods, Wegmans, Publix, Harris Teeter and Fresh market but all will be considered.
- Experience of working with senior teams to develop and execute sales strategies for newly formed and mid-sized businesses.
- Deep understanding of the North American fresh produce sector including sourcing models and routes to market – particularly on the Eastern Seaboard.
- Management of time sensitive perishable produce from source of production/packing to customers and consumers.
- Superior verbal and communications skills with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy and a proven track record of relationship building.
- Experience in sales and marketing analytics.
- Leadership of a sales and commercial team.
- Proven mentor and developer of teams.
- Willingness to incorporate AI into sales CRM.

- Ability to negotiate contracts with leading retailers and foodservice industries for the sale of fresh produce.
- Buying experience in the US Fresh Produce grocery and fresh produce sector.
- Experience in working with a newly formed business with aspirations to disrupt the market.
