A premium fresh fruit and vegetable processor based in New Jersey, is seeking a talented Maintenance Technician to join its fast-growing organization. The Maintenance Technician will schedule and supervise maintenance activities, including work performed by contractors. He/she will maintain appropriate documentation of maintenance schedules, equipment installations, structural repairs and work orders along with other necessary reports. This position also inspects all equipment and makes repairs, as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting to achieve the Company’s Vision: Deliver strategic and tactical direction to the maintenance department. This includes providing the leadership and guidance necessary to establish and execute best practices for areas of responsibility
- Ensure optimum utilization of assigned material, capital and personnel related to all aspects of the Plant maintenance functions
- Be responsible for line item and capital expenditures
- Maximize throughout by elimination of unscheduled downtime and achieving performance enhancements to the process and machinery
- Support all organizational initiatives and goals. Provide support for all functionalities at the facility
- Responsible for the long-range maintenance plans with all plant departments. This includes regularly communicating all plant facility plans to any affected departments
- Work with other facility departments to ensure compliance to regulatory and legislative codes and company requirements
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal USDA/HACCP policies and regulations.
- Implement, train, maintain and record preventative maintenance system
- Surveying buildings and repair mechanical systems
- Performing maintenance of electrical systems
- Assisting in the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems
Requirements:
- Engineering Degree preferred, or equivalent experience
- Safety oriented, knowledge of State and Federal USDA/HACCP policies and regulations
- Preferred experience in Arc and TIG welding and electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
- Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Able to work well with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
