A well-established produce distributor is searching for a Foodservice Sales Manager to join their Sales team. The Food Service Sales Manager identifies and develops new business opportunities, builds and maintains customer relationships, and develops strategy to support the sales channel of Food Service accounts. This role is responsible for developing strong working relationships with key existing accounts and managing the Outside Sales Representative team, responsible for account management.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develop annual goals, objectives, strategies and outcomes for Outside Sales, consistent with the Sales Department and Distribution strategy.
  • Develop, monitor and meet the department’s annual budget.
  • Implement sales strategy to meet the goals and forecasted sales numbers.
  • Create strategy to identify new sales opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Provide direction to team to execute sales strategy while working with the CEO.
  • Develop and oversee programs to drive product and customer sales.
  • Stay alert to new marketing opportunities; respond quickly to changing market conditions; develops and explores new markets.
  • Appropriate time and resources to accounts based on current volume and growth opportunities.
  • Take lead Account Executive role on assigned corporate accounts.
  • Make effective use of market research.
  • Introduce and coach sales team on business trends with a view on developing new products, services and distribution channels.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Customer Service to develop new products/channel opportunities.

Key Requirements/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years related experience. Experience in leu of a degree will be considered.
  • Thorough knowledge of the food service industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the produce industry.
  • Ability to adapt to and implement change.
  • Strong communications and people skills.
  • Excellent business development, account management and customer service skills.
  • Effective supervisory and management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and understand data.
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer applications.
  • Effective time management.
  • Real-world experience, such as Chef, Kitchen Manager, Restaurant owner or Produce Manager.
  • Well-connected in the local/Northern California foodservice and/or retail business.
