A well-established Produce Grower/Shipper/Packer is searching for a Senior Accountant to join their team. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in producing and maintaining accurate financial records, executing month-end close procedures, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and lender covenants, while supporting the Controller in various financial functions.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for executing the monthly close process, managing account reconciliations, and handling fixed asset accounting. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in working with financial systems to maintain the integrity of our financial reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Execute the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
• Prepare detailed workpapers (roll forwards, reconciliations, aging schedules, details, etc.) for all balance sheet accounts.
• Propose and post standard and non-standard journal entries.
• Perform analytics on certain account variances.
• Support lender compliance reporting.
• Support year-end audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
• Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information. 

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Senior Accountant role.
• Proven experience with preparing supporting workpapers for all balance sheet accounts and reconciling them to the trial balance.
• Experience with full month-end and year-end close processes.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Strong excel skills, including lookups, “IF(S)”/Sum IF(s) formulas, pivot tables, etc.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Positive attitude.
