A well-established, large-scale Grower of row and permanent crops is seeking a Vice President of Farm Operations based in the San Joaquin Valley, CA. This position has significant autonomy and responsibility for managing the production of 6,000+ acres. This position will report directly to the EVP and will work closely with all members of the site leadership team. The ideal candidate will have mid to senior level management experience with proven abilities in managing large scale San Joaquin Valley row crop farming operations, crop planning, water district knowledge/understanding, and basic agronomic knowledge.
The primary responsibility is to efficiently manage the multi-site farm operations of the region and ensure excellent customer and vendor satisfaction so that the company is able to meet the financial goals and objectives.
This includes:
- Managing farm operations budgeting, forecasting and performance to expectations
- Working closely with the CEO and CFO to review financial performance of the farm operations programs to maximize revenue and improve gross profit margins
- Manage production through directing and leading the area Ranch Managers
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed by each farm and department (Operations, Safety, HR, etc.)
- Report and share information with management to ensure they are kept fully informed of regional activities

Required Qualifications and Experience Needed:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Ag Business, Agronomy or related agricultural or science-based field of study.
- 7+ years’ experience managing large scale agricultural programs with multiple crop sites
- Self-directed individual who can take the lead on issues to identify and implement solutions with team input
- Demonstrated strategic management of drip-irrigated row crops
- Demonstrated financial management experience and budgeting skills
- Adaptability to changing situations and have the ability to perform multiple tasks with multiple priorities
- Able to foster accountability, good communication, and excellence in employees
- Able to work under pressure and work with all types of employees
- Proficient in the use of Windows based computer programs (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and a general aptitude with software systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to train and work with operational personnel on the farms
- Superior organizational and project management skills and experience leading and managing people
- Ability to acquire and hold a valid driver’s license and successfully pass vehicle insurance verification
- Candidates must be eligible to work unrestricted in the U.S. without company sponsorship to be considered for this position

Compensation: $200,000 - $270,000 DOE
