Import Sales Specialist

An emerging Importer/Distributor on the East Coast is in growth mode and looking for an experienced and accomplished import salesperson to develop new sales for retail (preferred) and blue-chip wholesale customers throughout the Eastern U.S. Our client has over 30 years of deep expertise in citrus and mango categories, serving their customers across the United States by providing consistent supply, superior quality, and exceptional service. Their mission is building strong, long-term partnerships with both growers and retailers, ensuring that their produce makes it from farm to shelf with excellence at every step.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5–7 years of proven experience in fresh produce sales, with a strong background in citrus and mango categories and an established network of retail produce buyers. This is a remote position, but candidates based in the East Coast (New Jersey/New York preferred) are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand retail accounts, focusing on citrus and mango programs.
  • Manage customer relationships to drive sales growth and maximize margins.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and promotional programs with retail buyers.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply availability to optimize sales strategies.
  • Partner with operations and logistics teams to ensure on-time, quality deliveries.
  • Provide accurate weekly sales forecasts, reports, and pipeline updates.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in fresh produce sales, preferably with citrus and mango.
  • Demonstrated success selling into retail channels, including national and regional grocery chains.
  • Established network of retail produce buyers strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of produce seasonality, sourcing regions, and industry standards.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to work independently and deliver results.

The base salary the company may reasonably expect to pay for this role is $125,000 to $150,000. The actual salary for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience. The base salary range does not include other compensation elements, which will compose the total compensation package, or other benefits available to the position.
