Opportunity for a change agent and business development expert to shape the sales functions for a fresh produce company. This organization has a terrific facility, deep grower connections, and the capacity to fill new customer needs. Seeking a sales manager who can instill efficient sales processes, teach and mentor a hard-working team, and develop a diversified customer base.

This importer, repacker, and distributor has grower partners in Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Mexico. Currently handles an array of tropicals with the operational capacity to increase their customer and grower base.

Position is based in the facility in the McAllen, TX region. The position needs to be in-office to coach the team, stay on top of orders, work closely with managerial peers. A deep knowledge of produce sales and developing new retail grocery customers sought.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to attract new retail customers.
  • Research and identify potential customers while staying ahead of industry trends in the fresh produce market.
  • Work collaboratively with operations and procurement to boost production volume and volume of procured repack items.
  • Manage inventories, pricing, daily and program orders.
  • Create sales plans for short term.
  • Engage in strategic planning and management meetings alongside company consultants, who are leading growth initiatives.
  • Inspire and guide the existing sales team, such as defining roles, to elevate performance and drive success.
  • Offer actionable recommendations for innovative strategies that promote business and sales growth.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 - 10 years of fresh produce sales experience, more preferred.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and teaching a sales team.
  • In-depth knowledge of the retail industry, including key players and emerging trends.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable success in achieving sales targets and accelerating net revenue growth.
  • Bilingual (English - Spanish) proficiency is highly preferred.
  • Well versed in FAMOUS software.
