Regional Retail CPG Sales Manager

A well-established national food manufacturer is seeking a talented and highly motivated retail grocery CPG sales professional to help grow their successful retail business throughout regions in the U.S. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate with at least 6 years of experience managing small to medium-size accounts who is looking to grow.

As a Regional Retail Sales Manager, this individual will be required to work within all aspects and responsibilities related to growing sales, increasing profit, and reducing expenses within the assigned customer territories. Will make sales calls to customers in Retail Grocery as well as new ventures into the Natural and Specialty Channels.

Responsibilities, duties and traits will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Gain a thorough knowledge of our company, products, history, heritage, and attributes and effectively communicate with all customers and brokers to help grow both branded and private label sales.
  • Be responsible for growing sales of the retail customer base and/or product lines.
  • Collaborate with Management to develop sales strategies to improve sales and market share for all product lines.
  • Actively participate in the efforts to grow existing accounts, as well as develop new business with new customers.
  • Willing to travel nationwide by car and plane for customer presentations, work industry trade shows, customer selling shows, and travel to Corporate Headquarters, plant sites as needed/directed.
  • Perform customer sales calls in person; to include clear, concise and effective communication both electronically and by phone. Respond to customers and brokers in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and concise email and database files.
  • Experience with customer portals and websites to efficiently interact with private label bids and customer requests.
  • Work with assigned retail food brokers to perform sales calls, assist with orders, accomplish company initiatives and grow our sales and presence with our valued customers.
  • *Build strong working relationships with retail brokers and customers through daily communication by phone,
  • email, or virtual meetings.
  • Accurately forecast annual, quarterly and monthly case sales, as well as assist with agricultural and production pack planning.
  • Strong awareness of customers’ sales needs and/or potential issues by providing consistent communication regarding customer situations.
  • Proficiency with accessing, analyzing, understanding and utilizing syndicated data to develop customer strategies and presentations.
  • Thorough understanding of retail pricing and promotion structures and ability to make pricing recommendations to management based on market analysis research.
  • Accurately communicates and implements approved pricing with customers and resolves pricing issues as needed/ directed.
  • Strong understanding of retail supply and distribution chain.
  • Ability & willingness to learn the company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Retail Food Sales and Retail Broker Management required.
  • Experience in Retail Sales Account Management, Trade Planning, Pricing Development, Goal Setting, Deduction
  • Support, Resource Allocation and Follow Up.
  • Must have experience working with various regional grocery retail chains.
  • Background and real experience in selling private brand grocery products.
  • Based near a major airport, as approved by the CEO, with a willingness to travel frequently and economically by
  • plane and/or car. Some weekends required for select shows, events and required meetings.
  • Strong ability to work remotely with reliable high speed internet access as approved by the IT Director.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, EXCEL, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Syndicated Data Analysis.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift a 50 lb. case of product.
