A rapidly growing specialty produce company located in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area, known for commitment to quality and innovation in the food manufacturing and consumer packaged goods (CPG) sector. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Controller / Controller to join our dynamic team and help drive financial excellence across our organization.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Controller / Controller will be responsible for managing the core accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable (A/P), and accounts receivable (A/R), while ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in food manufacturing or CPG environments and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations including A/P, A/R, payroll, and general ledger
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance
• Support external audits and tax preparation activities
• Collaborate with leadership to improve financial processes and reporting tools
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support business decisions
• Lead and mentor a small accounting team as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of relevant accounting/controller experience
• Strong background in payroll, A/P, and A/R management
• Experience in the food manufacturing or CPG industry is required
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment
• CPA certification is preferred but not required
