We are representing a well-established Produce Distributor that is searching for a Produce Buyer to join their team. The Produce Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of fresh produce to ensure customers consistently receive the best quality products at the best value. This role requires a focus on team success, solutions, process improvement, and a keen eye for detail. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to perform a variety of complex tasks in a fun, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage product procurement, replenishment, inventory control, and forecasting.
• Develop, maintain, and strengthen vendor relationships.
• Identify, evaluate, and introduce new products to drive sales and market differentiation.
• Provide sales support during new product launches.
• Monitor inventory and implement strategies to minimize shrink and spoilage.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment for customers.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of related experience required; 2–3 years preferred.
• Strong knowledge of produce, including seasonality and global sourcing trends.
• Demonstrates understanding of purchasing, costing, and pricing mechanisms.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Professional presence with persistence, tact, and diplomacy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with MS Dynamics GP a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and execute with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
• Team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
