We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Vice President of Business Development and Outside Sales to lead and expand our sales operations across retail, foodservice, and wholesale distribution channels. This executive-level role is responsible for driving revenue growth, forging strategic partnerships, leading a team of sales professionals, and developing and executing comprehensive sales strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong industry relationships, a deep understanding of the produce market and a proven track record of managing high-performance sales teams in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sales Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and refine the national sales and business development strategy to meet and exceed revenue goals.
- Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify growth opportunities in retail, foodservice, and wholesale sectors.
- Create clear KPIs and sales targets aligned with business objectives.
- Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a remote sales team with a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance management to maximize productivity and team engagement.
- Coordinate with inside sales team manager to best serve the specific needs of customers
- Business Development:
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain key relationships with major retailers, foodservice companies, and wholesale distributors.
- Drive new customer acquisition and develop long-term partnerships to expand market presence.
- Customer Engagement:
- Serve as a key point of contact for high-value clients, understanding their needs and ensuring exceptional service delivery.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
- Operational Excellence:
- Implement sales tools, CRM systems, and reporting processes to track pipeline activity and forecast accurately.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and supply chain to align sales strategies with company capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years in business development and outside sales, preferably in fresh produce or foodservice industry. Must have experience managing multi-channel sales (retail, foodservice, wholesale).
- Leadership: Proven track record of successfully leading and managing high-performing sales teams.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the produce market and established relationships with industry buyers.
- Skills:
- Strategic thinking with the ability to translate goals into actionable plans.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and data-driven sales tools.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Location: Remote position; proximity to major transportation hubs preferred.
