A well-established distributor is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team based in Long Beach, CA. The company ships to more than 20 states, and several countries and has working relationships with more than 100 shippers around the world. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and be able to multi-task and handle pressure of a fast-paced environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The accountant will work closely and report to the Corporate Controller to oversee all aspects of the company’s daily accounting and finance functions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoices.

The accountant will work closely with Senior Management to ensure timely and accurate financial analysis, reporting, and month-end close within specified completion dates. Below is an outline of critical responsibilities

Cost Accounting

  • Develop and maintain cost accounting to ensure accurate cost.
  • Work closely with operations to monitor and control production and purchasing costs.
  • Analyze costs, labor, and overhead to provide detailed cost reports and variance analysis.

Inter-Companies

  • Responsible for development and monitoring complex accounting transactions in multiple companies.
  • Run and analyze grower settlements within inter-companies.
  • Research any discrepancies between inter-companies and ensure they balance.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Support the Corporate Controller in preparing management reports and financial summaries.

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Process and review accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist in managing cash flow by monitoring and reporting on outstanding receivables and payables.
  • Run and provide reports to management for review and approval.

Compliance/Tax Support

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting functions.
  • Collaborate with Controller and Senior Management to minimize tax exposure.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and logistics, to gather necessary information for accurate costing and financial reporting.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions and company growth
  • Other duties and AD HOC Projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S./B.A. degree with a focus in Accounting, Finance or Economics required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably with cost accounting.
  • Proven experience in cost accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience working with a distributor- highly preferred
  • Position requires 5+ years of accounting management experience within a large ($200m+ Revenue) organization
  • Bilingual in Spanish (Read and Write) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, cost accounting, and financial reporting standards.

Compensation: $100,000 - $140,000 DOE
