Description:

• A long established and very reputable West Coast Importer/Shipper/Repacker is in growth mode.
• Our client has grown by over $24 Million the last couple of years and has infrastructure/facilities in place for more sales and new categories.
• They’re seeking an experienced and motivated category expert to develop a new tomato program for the company.
• The ideal candidate has an established grower network in place or at the very least significant sourcing/buying experience.
• This role will have a solid starting base salary (likely $100k - $150k, DOE) full benefits and bonus/commission incentives for successful performance.
• This position can be based in Phoenix, AZ (preferred) or Los Angeles, California.

  Position Responsibilities Include

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key growers, shippers and customers.
• Prospect and manage new direct sales with retail and wholesale customers.
• Participate in all buying, product management logistics, profitability, and business development for the tomato category.
• Travel to both company facilities in CA and AZ during busy import seasons.

Required Experience & Qualifications Include

• Extensive tomato category experience is a must. (Executing grower/shipper deals and a thorough understanding of overall tomato supply chain, from grower to end user.)
• Participate in all buying, product management logistics, profitability, and business development for the tomato category.
• Having a current yearly/seasonal grower direct deal that will follow with new employment would be highly desired.
• In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, contract negotiation and sourcing strategies.
• Strong understanding of market dynamics and industry trends within the tomato sector.
• College degree (B.A. /B.S.) in related fields of study desired, or at least 7 years of tomato procurement, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
