Strong, growing produce company seeking a Sales Executive with a strong retail background. Sell product to customers, hedge markets and create new business. Maintain current relationships with current customers and vendors while bringing in new business. Make sure all information for orders is in the system correctly and follow up with the transportation department for delivery status/updates.
Responsibilities
- Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain our company values and how we operate.
- Solicit orders.
- Hedge markets; knowing when a product will be very tight in the market and buying (rolling) it before there are any orders and anticipating that you will be able to sell it at a good price.
- Purchase product to sell to customers.
- Recommend products to customers based on their needs and interests.
- Negotiate pricing.
- Networking with growers, vendors, customers.
- Defend current business with customers. Deal with customer issues, billing issues, credits, etc.
- Working with the team on order entry and delivery details.
- Help others learn how to hedge markets and deal with customer issues.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5-10 years produce sales and BD experience
- Strong relationships with retailers
- Excellent communication skills, verbal, email, text.
- Reading other people (especially your customers to enhance customer relationships).
- Understanding produce item market trends.
- Negotiation skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Working well under pressure.
- Good judgment and decision making skills.
- Persuasion skills.
