Senior Labor Relations Partner
The Senior Labor Relations Partner is part of the Labor team responsible for delivering effective labor strategies, fostering partnerships across HR, and building productive relationships with bargaining unit leadership and staff, all in alignment with the company’s overall labor strategy. This role ensures consistent application of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) across local units and supports leaders in understanding grievance processes, contract administration, and the intent of CBAs.
Responsibilities:
Align labor relations strategies with business goals and objectives
Collaborate with operations leadership to ensure employee treatment reflects company values and goals
Collect, analyze, and interpret labor relations data to inform decision-making
Assess training needs related to labor relations and coordinate deployment across HR and the business
Interpret CBA language and independently deliver education and training to leadership at all levels
Serve as a liaison between HR Business Partners, Employee Relations, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, and Employee Experience teams, providing labor relations expertise during policy and practice changes
Consult with leaders across the organization to ensure alignment with labor strategy
Advise business units including Supply Chain, Logistics, and Sales on labor relations best practices
Stay current on labor relations trends and best practices; participate in cross-functional working groups to recommend strategic improvements
Provide guidance on policy application, contract compliance, performance management, and corrective action
Represent the company in grievance processes and arbitrations
Lead and support contract negotiations, including preparation, execution, and post-negotiation communication; analyze financial implications of proposals
Requirements:
Strong passion for labor relations and understanding of how union partnerships or union-free strategies impact business outcomes
Solid knowledge of labor law
Experience partnering across departments such as Supply Chain, Logistics, Sales, Communications, HR, Legal, Finance, and Safety
Ability to work with external partners (e.g., legal counsel, consultants) to achieve strategic goals
Skilled in negotiation and mediation (first-chair experience not required)
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Discretion in handling highly confidential or sensitive issues
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to leverage resources effectively
Willingness to travel more than 20% as needed
