Houseman/Handyman – Private Seaside Estate

A high-profile client is seeking a professional, discreet, and proactive Houseman/Handyman to assist in the care and maintenance of a private beachfront residence located in Hobe Sound, FL. This individual will play an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation of the property, working both independently and as part of a small household team. The residence is home to three household members and two pets (a small 18-year-old dog and a large 2-year-old dog).

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility required on days when additional work or events arise.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general handyman and maintenance tasks inside and outside across the estate, with emphasis on the upkeep of seaside properties impacted by salt air and humidity.
• Maintain and troubleshoot household systems, including pumps, HVAC, pools, and other machinery.
• Support housekeeping staff with daily operations (approx. 30%), including light housekeeping, serving at table, setting up for meals and events, assisting in the kitchen as needed, and cleaning terraces, windows, and outdoor areas.
• Oversee and maintain outdoor spaces (approx. 70%), including patios, pool areas, and grounds, ensuring they are consistently well presented.
• Provide occasional driving support for the family, including airport transfers, appointments, and errands.
• Travel on occasion with the family to residences in Italy, San Juan, or other destinations as needed.
• Collaborate seamlessly with housekeepers and other staff members to deliver a high standard of service at all times.
• Assist with care and support of two household pets (one elderly small dog and one large young dog).
• Perform preventative maintenance of the seaside property to ensure systems and structures remain in optimal condition.

 

Requirements

• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience working as a Houseman/Handyman within a private household, preferably for high-net-worth families.
• Strong knowledge of property maintenance, especially for seaside homes and equipment vulnerable to salt exposure.
• Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment while remaining self-motivated and resourceful.
• Flexible and willing to assist with a wide range of tasks, both indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to support the housekeeper as needed to ensure smooth household operations.
• Must enjoy working outdoors in the Florida climate.
• Valid driver’s license and comfort with driving duties as needed.
• Professional, discreet, and service-oriented demeanor.
• This is a full-time position with an immediate start.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary: $70,000 – $90,000, commensurate with experience.
